Description

The Quality Control Technician is responsible for ensuring all AV Racks, podiums, and credenzas are built in accordance with Red Thread standards and are of top-quality workmanship. The QC Technician will also be tasked with testing, updating firmware, loading DSP files and control code to systems for testing in the AV Lab prior to installation. The QC Technician will report directly to the AV Lab Manager.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Ensure racks are built according to supplied AV drawings and Red Thread standards.
  • Update firmware
  • Load DSP files and control code
  • Work with programmers to communicate and resolve punch list items in timely fashion
  • Complete documentation detailing system functionality and any outstanding punch list items prior to installation.
  • Comply with Red Thread systems design and/or consultant specifications based on system drawings and narrative descriptions
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and safe worksite
  • Adhere to the established departmental methodologies and policies and procedures
  • Attend a variety of meetings as required or directed
  • Perform other similar duties as required or directed
  • Protect the confidentiality of information, including client list and interactions within areas of own position responsibilities
  • Promote a continuous quality improvement effort to enhance the services provided to clients and other Red Thread staff by demonstrating positive attitudes and actions through a display of courtesy, congeniality, cooperation, initiatives, sensitivity, and professionalism

Position Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; vocational degree preferred
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime as required
  • Ability to read and understand system drawings and wiring diagrams
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail & processes
  • General competency with working with computer networks, control panel, etc.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows
  • Familiarity Microsoft Teams and Zoom setup and configuration
  • Experience with Crestron, Biamp, Cisco, Polycom a plus
  • AVIXA CTS certification preferred, but not required.
  • Experience testing AV systems to reveal any bugs or issues that need addressing prior to system installation
  • Ability to communicate technical issues clearly and concisely and promote timely resolution.
  • Physical demands:
    • Ability to go up and down a ladder repeatedly
    • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. Unassisted
    • Appropriate visual acuity to terminate cables
