Description

The Project Engineer is responsible for the complete technical functionality of systems, in projects assigned to them, starting at post award through final close out. The Project Engineer provides engineering level support to the operations department throughout the course of the project and is instrumental in the close out process. The project engineer is responsible for configuring, testing and fine tuning complex system components including Audio DSPs, Videoconferencing codecs, Video scalers and processors.

Project related functions are as follows:

  • Review project design in detail for functional completeness and accuracy. Make any required changes prior to CAD drafting and order processing.
  • Work with CAD team to create project drawings including, architectural plans, elevations, signal flows, mounting details, and product details as needed.
  • Participate in project kickoff meetings administered by the project manager, to transition project details to the Project Manager and other project team members.
  • Attend other project meetings with client, architect, and other project trades as required to coordinate various aspects of the project.
  • Configure, test and fine tune complex system components including Audio DSPs, Videoconferencing codecs, Video scalers and processors in the AV lab as well as on site.
  • Provide daily project status reports to project team members.
  • Provide technical support to AV lab personnel and field technicians during project buildout.
  • Create change orders as required during the course of project.
  • Provide CAD sketches, details and coordination drawings as required.
  • Be instrumental in the closeout process in conjunction with Project Manager, control system programmer and other project team members.

Other functions are as follows:

  • Research new products and technologies for use in innovative and efficient audiovisual designs.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and training to others within the engineering department.
  • Protect confidentiality of information, including clients and company processes and procedure related information.
  • Promote a continuous quality improvement effort to enhance the services provided to clients and other Red Thread staff by demonstrating positive attitudes and actions through a display of cooperation, initiative and professionalism.

The qualified candidate should possess the following skills and experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in the audiovisual industry in a field engineering and/or design role.
  • ICIA accredited CTS, with CTS-D and/or CTS-I certification preferred.
  • Fundamental knowledge of networks and network terminology.
  • Experience with Cisco Webex, Zoom, and Microsoft Team Room systems and equipment.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or Revit software preferred, will train if lacking.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • General familiarity of Microsoft Windows environment and applications.
  • Strong technical aptitude and analytical skills.
  • Ability to problem solve independently and with a sense of urgency.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail oriented work approach and excellent follow up skills are a must.
  • Ability effectively manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to work effectively within tight timeframes and project deadlines.
