Description

The Field Engineer is responsible for a variety of field and home-base duties associated with the closeout & commissioning of complex audiovisual systems. This position is responsible for ensuring proper installation of integrated systems, quality control of audiovisual infrastructure, communication and coordination of network requirements and testing and final calibrations of audio and video equipment. Interfacing with client to include demonstration of new system operations, client trainings, and obtaining client sign-offs.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Ensure installation has been completed according to project drawings and Red Thread standards.
  • Work with system programmer to communicate and resolve punch list items in the field.
  • Write and modify Audio DSP configurations.
  • Work with client to coordinate network setup and integration with AV systems and protocols, including multicast, Dante, AVB and VoIP.
  • Write daily status reports
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and safe worksite
  • Adhere to the established departmental methodologies and policies and procedures
  • Attend a variety of meetings and trainings as required or directed
  • Protect the confidentiality of information, including client list and interactions within areas of own position responsibilities
  • Promote a continuous quality improvement effort to enhance the services provided to clients and other Red Thread staff by demonstrating positive attitudes and actions through a display of courtesy, congeniality, cooperation, initiatives, sensitivity, and professionalism

Position Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Four-year college or vocational degree preferred
  • Three years’ experience working in the field in the audiovisual or similar industry
  • Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams and architectural drawings
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail & processes
  • General competency with working with computer networks
  • Familiarity Microsoft Teams and Zoom setup and configuration
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows setup and configuration
  • Experience with Crestron, Extron, Cisco and Polycom a plus
  • Familiarity with audio DSP platforms such as Biamp, QSC, Bose, and Shure Intellimix a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime as required
  • AVIXA CTS certification (required), CTS-I (preferred)
  • Ability to communicate technical issues clearly and concisely and promote timely resolution.
  • Physical demands:
    • Ability to go up and down a ladder repeatedly
    • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. Unassisted
    • Appropriate visual acuity to terminate cables
