Description

The AV Field Services Engineer is responsible for ensuring audio/visual systems are functioning as designed at project turnover and for the duration of the system being in commission. They interface internally with Project Managers, Engineers, Helpdesk, and Management and externally with clients including end users, technology managers, executives, general contractors, and other trades. The Field Services Engineer is a self-starter who can manage several projects concurrently and see issues through to resolution with minimal supervision or support.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Skills of a Technician Level 3
  • Mentor/train/supervise other technicians, including subcontractors, on the job
  • Represent Red Thread professionally and be able to directly respond to clients, general contractors, and other trades as needed
  • Superior communication skills including daily status reports in writing, service ticket updates, issue resolution, RMA's, phone support, and may occasionally backup or support the helpdesk.
  • Upload/test/debug control program files and work with programmers to identify and resolve programming issues. Some Crestron programming skills are a plus.
  • Write DSP files from scratch, primarily Biamp/QSC/Shure
  • Understand and resolve complex audio DSP issues and tune rooms
  • Configure network switches for VLAN's, multicast, IGMP snooping, etc.
  • IP configuration and tracking
  • Video wall calibration
  • Complete internal and external commissioning checklists and reports as required per project specification
  • Provide daily and timely reporting of completed and outstanding work
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • Ability to travel overnight occasionally within the New England region

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience
  • AVIXA CTS-I preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and process
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with Crestron/Extron/AMX/Cisco/Poly
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms
  • Experience with DSP's such as Biamp/QSC/Shure

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to go up and down a ladder repeatedly
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. unassisted
  • Ability to lift and install product overhead in the ceiling
  • Appropriate visual acuity to terminate cables
