Position: Red Thread AV Service Technician

Position Overview:

An AV Service Technician - Level 3 is responsible for the proper maintenance and repair of audio/video equipment under some supervision. This position requires onsite work at different client sites on a daily basis. The technician works as a part of a team to ensure complete customer satisfaction and that systems are functioning according to industry standards and are of top quality workmanship. The Service technician interfaces internally with Engineers and Help Desk personnel as well as externally with clients including end users, technology managers, or executives. This technician is a self-starter who can manage several issues concurrently.  

Responsibilities:

  • Represent Red Thread professionally and be able to directly respond to clients, manufacturers and the Help Desk
  • Superior communication skills including daily status reports in writing, issue resolution, RMA's, phone support
  • Travel daily to various customer sites primarily in the Greater Boston region, but also including the entire New England region on occasion.
  • Ensure AV systems are functioning according to specifications and industry standards
  • Ability to upload/test/debug control program files and work with programmers to identify and resolve programming issues
  • Ability to upload and modify audio DSP files and fine tune adjustments for optimal quality
  • Update firmware on a variety of AV hardware
  • Ability to work overtime as needed

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of industry experience preferred
  • AVIXA CTS preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and process
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with Crestron/Extron/AMX/Cisco/Poly
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms
  • Experience with DSP's such as Biamp/QSC/Shure
  • Clean driving record
Physical requirements:
  • Ability to go up and down a ladder repeatedly
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. unassisted
  • Ability to lift and install product overhead in the ceiling
  • Appropriate visual acuity to terminate cables
