Description

The Architectural Designer/ Project Manager functions as a member of the Architectural Products team in supporting project and client needs by performing architectural design functions and developing and maintaining great business relationships with one or more key customers.  This position is an integral to the AP department by assisting in creating efficient and effective solutions while supporting client needs and maintaining profitability.

This position will involve:

  • Translating sketches into AutoCAD and Revit based Architectural Product drawings, this includes:
    • Modular Wall drawings, dimensional plans, elevations and details
    • Raised Access Floor drawings, dimensional plans and details
    • Modular Power drawings, with power distribution, branch circuiting
    • Modular Data drawings, with consolidation points, home runs and voice/data outlets
    • Sound Masking drawings, with speaker placement, zoning and wiring diagrams
  • Translate block plans into finished space plan based on predetermined product solutions
  • Help to establish, develop and maintain the desired levels of customer satisfaction for each assigned account
  • Create Estimates and Proposals
  • Create and manage installation documents including customer files, title blocks, layer states/manager and printed communications
  • Specifications checking and document preparation
  • Assist site managers/supervisors in field verifications and preparations for installation
  • Create architectural base plans when one is not available when required
  • Responsible for maintaining and archiving all customer files and electronic documentation
  • Attend project meetings, take notes; Perform site visits as necessary
  • Publish status reports


Additional Job Functions: 

  • Coordinates with VP of Architectural Products in developing project management, strategy and profitability targets for each fiscal year.
  • Manages subcontractors and vendors.
  • Attends client meetings as needed.
  • Engages in sales opportunities with existing Red Thread Accounts as well as prospecting for new opportunities in the marketplace through referrals, networking, associations, business journals, web sites, etc.
  • Obtain new product orders by servicing existing accounts through continuous needs analysis and follow-up.
  • Facilitates an advanced solution discussion with existing and new accounts linking all of Red Threads’ furniture and integrated interiors solutions
  • Educates A&D Firms, engineering firms, construction companies, project management firms as well as Red Thread customer base on new ways of using Architectural Products portfolio.
  • Works closely with Red Thread construction manager during sales cycle and execution cycle of architectural products project and seeing it through to a successful conclusion.
  • Ensure smooth installation by preparing instructions for delivery and installations, monitoring the preparation plans for installation, coordinating with Sales Support and Logistics and attending installation if required.
  • Performs special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

 Knowledge and Skills:

  • BFA/BS/BA degree with Technical Training: Interior, Architectural, Industrial Design or Facilities Management
  • 4+ years of architectural product drafting/design experience with AutoCAD and Revit
  • CET experience a plus.
  • Construction and facilities experience and business knowledge preferred.
  • Knowledge of architectural products portfolio and how it integrates into the construction process.
  • PC Skills: Microsoft Windows including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and CRM database experience
  • Strong oral, presentation, written & interpersonal skills.  Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Self-directed; takes initiative; resourceful; good problem solving ability and follow through
  • Ability to interact with multiple disciplines within an account/project, including executive level, facilities and the project team.

Experience:

  • Four+ years design and construction experience preferred. Exposure to architectural products, construction or furniture environment with measurable success, preferably with business-to-business exposure useful.
