Sales Representative – K-12 Team
The Sales Representative develops new business through prospecting, networking, and servicing existing architects and designers and building committees. Manages life cycle of order process; delegates and helps prioritize the activities of team Sales Coordinators. Meets and often exceeds sales volume and profit goals.
The primary job functions are as follows:
New Business Development
- Identifies prospects and potential customers through referrals, networking, associations, business journals, web sites, etc. Achieves success through consultative selling and building strong relationships.
- Researches and investigates all prospects’ product, industry, structure, and potential as a future client in order to qualify leads and develop an effective first call or first contact strategy and sales plan.
- Executes call or first contact strategy and establishes rapport or follow-up with prospects; schedules consultative meetings and presentations to obtain future business.
- Develop, administer and adjust content of sales presentations in accordance with prepared sales plan.
- Prepare quotations and RFPs for the client’s review:

Develop and enter a budget, create pricing, determine profit margin, and align internal resources (Project Management, Design, Account Management and other Red Thread services). Outline product specifications, customer pricing, delivery and installation timeframes

- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending company and vendor sponsored educational and product workshops; reviewing professional publications.
- Keeps management informed by submitting planning reports and project updates.
- Obtain new product orders by servicing existing accounts through continuous needs analysis and follow-up.
- Performs special projects as assigned.
Desired Skills and Abilities:
- Intermediate PC Skills: Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel.
- Experience utilizing CRM software.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Self-directed; takes initiative; resourceful; good problem solving ability and follow through.
- Clear and professional communication skills, including verbal, written and listening.
- Detail oriented with strong organization and scheduling skills.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and multi-tasking abilities.

- Demonstrates enthusiasm and optimism.
- Design experience/background or K-12 focused furniture dealership experience preferred.
- Three + years sales experience with measurable success, preferably with business-to-business exposure.
- Selling to construction and/or architecture and design or sister industry is a plus.
- BA/BS degree preferred
