Job Title: Rack Builder
Department: AV Installation
Reports to: Manager, AV Lab

I. Position Summary:

The Rack builder is responsible for building AV equipment racks, podiums and credenzas according to supplied plans and Red Thread standards within set timeframe of a fast paced environment. The Rack Builder will ensure all AV Racks, podiums, and credenzas are built in accordance with Red Thread standards and are of top quality workmanship. A Rack Builder reports directly to the AV Lab Manager.

II. Major Responsibilities:

* Build racks according to supplied AV CAD’s
* Load AV equipment into racks
* Layout equipment in racks according to AV CAD’s
* Properly wire in electrical power
* Properly lace in custom built cables
* Properly terminate AV cables following standards
* Terminations including but not limited to:
            o Audio connectors
                    * RCA’s, XLR’s, 1/4” TRS, 1/8” Stereo Minis, Phoenix type, RJ-45
            o Video connectors
                    * BNC, F-Type, RCA, s-video, HD-15, RJ-45, Phoenix Type
            o Control Connectors
                    * IR, Phoenix type, DB-9, DB-25, Mini DIN, RJ-11, RJ-45
* Comply with Red Thread Systems design and/or consultant specifications. Ability to read and understand CAD Diagrams
* Completion of assigned tasks within timeframe allocated by their supervisor
* Maintenance of a clean, neat, and safe worksite
* Adherence to the established Departmental Methodologies and Policies and Procedures
* Attend a variety of meetings as required or directed
* Perform other similar duties as required or directed
* Protect the confidentiality of information, including Client list and interactions within areas of own position responsibilities
* Promote a continuous quality improvement effort to enhance the services provided to clients and other Red Thread staff by demonstrating positive attitudes and actions through a display of courtesy, congeniality, cooperation, initiatives, sensitivity, and professionalism
* Any other tasks deemed appropriate by supervisory staff

III. Position Qualifications

* High School Diploma required, Vocational Degree preferred
* Ability and willingness to work overtime as required
* Ability to read and understand CAD
* Excellent Verbal & Written Communication Skills
* Strong Attention to Detail & Processes
* Experience with Windows OS and the Microsoft Office Suite preferred
* Basic understanding of Audio Visual and Terminology
* Physical Demands:
            o Ability to go up and down a ladder repeatedly
            o Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. unassisted
            o Ability to lift and install product overhead in the ceiling
            o Appropriate visual acuity to terminate cables
