Definition:
 
The Project Manager is responsible for analysis, pre-planning and estimating of installation work either directly for, or as liaison with, the Sales and Installation departments. Assists in completing and clarifying job folder packets and bid packages. Works with Sales, Sales Coordinators and Project/Account Management personnel on installation pre-planning, price quotations and customer meetings and presentations.
 
Responsibilities and Duties:
 
Organizational Interfacing:
  • Interfaces with sales personnel, design staff and project/account management to keep abreast of sales and sales opportunities in progress.
  • Acts as liaison to Installation Scheduler regarding installation analyses, installation pre-planning and job folder information completeness and clarity.
  • Interfaces with Distribution personnel in determining scope of services and resources needed.
  • Meets with customers regarding installation requirements and upcoming projects in conjunction with sales and project/account management personnel. In some circumstances may represent RED THREAD on a direct basis with no Sales involvement.
  • Is an information resource to other members of the Operations department.
     
    Installation Estimating:
  • Reviews customer installation requirements and drawing/specification information to understand the complete scope of services requested.
  • Analyzes a broad scope of installation issues that impact cost and labor efficiency: drawings and specifications, product assembly issues, site/receiving/staging conditions, schedule/time frame requested or allotted, 3rd party interfacing, technical issues and contract/pricing management.
  • Develops detailed written labor pricing that include total man-hours, breakdown of hours by installation activity, miscellaneous (warehouse, delivery, trash removal, etc) hours, additional costs other than labor, etc by phase, by day, by week, as applicable.
  • Maintains awareness of estimating “rules of thumb” and matches to actual labor time expended on projects quoted to ensure up to date knowledge of labor hours for various installation conditions and products.
  • In conjunction with VP Operations, develops and maintains relationships with independent subcontractors in accordance with RED THREAD business ethics and standards.
  • Stays abreast of installation competitors regarding rates, labor quoting, resources and quality of work.
     
    Work Planning:
  • Develops detailed work plans that provide manpower loading requirements per the installation schedule, material handling logistical plans, identification of potential issues and problems areas, etc
  • Works with sales personnel, sales support, project/account management to ensure that project schedules are communicated to the scheduler and that strong attempts are made to coordinate customer requirements with efficient installation scheduling.
  • Develops and details special requirements for the installation job folder to ensure clarity for the field crews.
  • Gathers and documents all project site condition and information.
  • Documents in writing all special equipment needs, vehicle requirements and building requirements for the job folder.
  • Works with appropriate sales personnel and scheduler to follow-up on job folders that require additional clarity, information, or missing project details to ensure established standards are met.
     
    Qualifications
     
    Skills & Abilities:
  • PC Skills: Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Windows including Word and Excel.
  • Possess comprehensive product knowledge.
  • Possess a solid knowledge of financial concepts & principles.
  • Display solid interpersonal skills and work well in a team environment.
  • Good problem solving ability and follow through.
  • Clear and professional communication, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to lead/ directs diverse group of individuals.
  • Detail oriented and organized.
  • Works well in a multi-task organization.
  • Has a mechanical aptitude.
     
    Level of Education/Training/License:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • B.A / B.S. a plus.
     
    Experience:
  • Three to five years’ project management experience.
  • A minimum of three years hands on furniture installation experience.
  • Industry or related industry experience is required.
